Throughout the PADI Open Water Dive Class, learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques of diver comfort and safety while having fun. After completion of our 2 day open water dive class earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification card that is recognized worldwide. You earn this rating by starting with home study education materials, completing knowledge development sessions, five confined water dives in the pool and four open water dives in fresh water springs. The dives start on site, in our indoor pool and then off to our crystal clear springs right here in Crystal River Florida.

At American Pro Diving Center, your comprehensive two-day PADI Open Water certification package includes E-learning online materials, access to our in-store 12 ft deep training dive pool, all necessary rental dive gear, boat transportation to various dive sites, expert guidance from a certified Scuba Instructor, and the issuance of a temporary PADI certification card upon completion—all ensuring a fun-filled experience. Your permanent certification card, complete with your photo and new diver number, will be delivered to your mailing address by PADI within 4 to 6 weeks. With scuba classes available year-round, we also offer private classes for those seeking a more private personalized learning experience.

The PADI Open Water Diver Class is open to individuals aged 10 years and older. For participants aged 10 and 11, the presence of a parent or legal guardian is mandatory both in the class and during diving activities. At the outset of the class, both the youth and the accompanying adult will view the Youth Diving Responsibility and Risks video and jointly review and sign the Youth Diving Responsibility and Risks form, which can be accessed through the provided link. Any queries can be addressed by contacting us.
Participants aged 12 and older are permitted to proceed independently.
The class spans 2 full days and requires completion of online home study materials.
Class hours are from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Upon Successful completion of this class you earn a PADI international Open Water Diver certification that never expires:
Age 10 and 11 year olds receives a PADI Junior Open Water Diver card which is labeled qualified to dive with parent or legal guardian or PADI Professional and must not exceed 40 feet in depth.
Age 12 to 14 year olds receives a PADI Junior Open Water Diver card which is labeled qualified to dive when accompanied by another certified diver who is of legal age or a PADI Pro.
Age 15 and older receives a PADI Open Water Diver card. Note- You can upgrade your Junior Open Water Diver certification card at age 15 or older so you no longer have age-related restrictions while scuba diving.
What to Bring:

- Review and be prepared to sign the PADI Medical Release Statement, PADI Standard Safe Diving Practices, and PADI Liability Release and Assumption of Risk Agreement, all available in the Student Record File Folder. Refer to the forms link provided below, and don’t hesitate to reach out to us for any clarification or queries.
- Bring Signed Medical Release Statement from a Physician if you have any yes answers to the Medical Release Statement(see the forms link below and call us with any and all questions)
- To participate in the PADI Open Water (OW) Class, complete the PADI “Go Diving” E-Learning or manual, consisting of five chapters. Following the readings, submit your responses to the Knowledge Reviews found at the end of each section. Record your answers directly in the book or print them out if using the E-Learning platform.
- To enroll in the PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) class, kindly review specific chapters outlined in the PADI Adventures in Diving manual (please consult our staff for further details). Students are required to present a valid Open Water (OW) Certification Card from an accredited scuba training organization. Should you have any inquiries, feel free to contact us.
- Have all home study work done before start of class.
- Bring all of your PADI Education materials to class each day.
- Bring a dive watch. (Start good diving habits.)
- Bring a swim suit
- Bring a towel and dry clothes to change into after the dives. The boat may get wet so protect wanting dry items with a dry bag. Remember any items on the deck of the boat will get wet when everyone returns from the water. See your captain for the dry areas of the boat.
- Students must provide their own transportation and meals.
- The private marina in Crystal River, where the boat is launched for Open Water (OW) dives, provides a parking lot and an on-site convenience store. While there is a $5 fee per vehicle, the advantage is a spacious parking area. Payments can be made at their store, and detailed instructions for directions and parking areas are provided by the Instructor.
- Rainbow River is a County Park, where a fee of $20 per person is applicable for parking and to access their well-maintained facilities with restrooms.
